Addition Using Number Grid

Addition can be performed using a number grid by moving forward by as many spaces as the other number.

Following steps are required to solve the statement

1. To add the digit at ones place we will start from the first number and we will move forward number of steps equal to the digit at ones place

2. To add the digit at tens place we will move downwards number of steps equal to the digit at tens place.

Let us consider the following example:

Add 55 and 34

55 + 34 = ?

1. To add the digit at tens place that is 3 in the number 34. We will start from the first number that is 55 The number is shown with red colour and we will move downward by number of steps equal to the digit at tens place that is 3

2. To add the digit at ones place we will move forward number of steps equal to the digit at ones place that is move 4 steps forward and reach the digit 79

The process is shown below:.

Hence on adding 66 and 34 we get 89.
